Technology is supposed to be for the advancement of society: making things easier to do, giving us the capabilities to do more, and increasing awareness about things we wouldn’t have been aware of. However, it seems lately that some technologies are looking to encourage some changes in society that are questionable, namely the treatment of women.
Generally I’m all for gender jokes, but it seems like lately many of these jokes have been completely one-sided. Some technologies, such as a couple of Iphone apps, just find more and more ways to disrespect women. I understand that men are generally the demographic for a lot of gadgets out there, but that doesn’t mean that women should be ignored. I think that the people creating these things should definitely consider the other half of the audience and be more forward thinking, not to mention try to be a little more respectful.
